Camp Apex will hold four 2-week sessions, two week mini camps and two week Y specialy camps (ages 8 to 14) this summer 2011 for campers aged 6* (child entering 1st grade) to 14. The themes for each session are as follows: Session 1 - "Look at the Movies ;" Session 2 - "Early Pioneers Camp;" Session 3 - "To the Extreme;" and Session 4 - "Blast Off into Outer Space ."
Our very popular High Adventure Tribe will be offered for campers ages 12 to 14. This tribe focuses on all aspects of camping, campers will learn wilderness skills, fire building and other outdoor skills plus enjoy their favorite Apex activities including daily swim. Each session, the High Adventure tribe covers basic concepts of wilderness survival, such as shelter building, fire building, knot tying, tent pitching and surveying a campsite. Also, all High Adventure campers learn proper hiking skills, how to identify harmful and harmless plants, and basic orienteering skills.
Our Counselor in Training (CIT) Program for teens combines leadership skill-building with conselor training in several areas. CIT's work hard, but they play hard too! CIT's receive training in first aid, life skills, camp crafting, team-building, and leading songs and games. CIT's also learn planning and implementation of group activities as well as skills for inhancing character development, and experience firsthand the benefits and advantages of volunteerism and community service. The CIT program runs concurrently with the Apex sessions and is limited to 10 participants. CIT Four-week Session Fee: $200. Sliding Fee Scale Available to All Income-Eligible Families.
