Parking Policy: Of our upper lot’s 11 parking spaces, 4 require a state handicapped permit; 7 require a YMCA handicapped permit. All other Members/Program Associates should park in the back lots or on the street. Restrictions apply to accommodate our many participants with physical limitations who cannot attend classes if they cannot park in the upper lot. We appreciate your caring consideration for others.
Locker Room Policy:
Children’s Locker Room Policy: The YMCA’s policy is that parents accompanying children (ages 1 to 5) needing assistance use the Boys’, Girls’ or Family Locker Rooms. Once children turn 6 years old they can use their own locker room or continue to use the Family Locker Room with a parent. Children under 15 years old are not allowed in the Men’s, Women’s or Gold Locker Rooms.
Family Locker Room Policy: The Family Locker Room is for parents with children 9 years old and younger, as well as special needs children and their aides/parents. Children must be accompanied by a parent to use the Family Locker Room. Once children turn 10 years old, they should use the Boys’ or Girls’ Locker Room.
Policies & FAQ's
Insurance Statement: The YMCA in Greenfield does not provide accident in-surance for injuries sustained during Y activities. Mem-bers and Program Associates participate in programs and use the facility at their own risk, and are en-couraged to have personal medical insurance coverage.
Member Feedback Policy: We strive to provide quality programs, up-to-date equipment, a clean, well-maintained facility and, of course, excellent member service in a friendly, caring and respectful environment. We welcome and encourage constructive feedback; all concerns and ideas are reviewed and problems addressed whenever possible. The following communication options are available to all YMCA members and program participants:
1) Leave a note in our Suggestion Box outside the Nautilus Center.
2) Leave a written message at the Front Desk or call a staff member.
3) Call the Executive Director if you are unhappy with staff response.
4) Write a letter to our Membership Committee if you are unhappy with the response from the Executive Director.
YMCA’s A.W.A.Y: Your Membership Card is Valid at 2,200+ YMCA’s A.W.A.Y.
This is a great benefit for members away on vacation or on business. As an A.W.A.Y. Program participant, our YMCA’s members can visit any otherA.W.A.Y. facility and receive a discount or eight free visits each year. Many of our members take advantage of this benefit to keep them feeling “at home” by keeping to their disciplined fitness habits.

Fundraising
The Heritage Club: The Heritage Club is a special group of individuals who believe in the YMCA and want to ensure that its valuable character-building programs/services continue through new generations. Club members have included the Y in their estate plans by will, insurance or by giving a gift outright. A unique aspect of Heritage Club membership is that your gift can be deferred. Listing the YMCA in Greenfield as a beneficiary on your life insurance policy qualifies you as a member. Each spring the Club meets for a social dinner and informational session to recognize members. As more people join this fellowship, the Y builds long-range financial stability that enables us to meet our mission. For information on the Club and deferred giving, contact Bob Sunderland.
Special Needs
Special Needs Policy: Every person, regardless of special need, is welcome to register for YMCA programs. At the time of registration, if a child’s particular needs appear not to be met by our standard program, a meeting will take place between the parents/guardian and the supervising Program Director. At that meeting the child’s needs must be detailed and a written plan generated indicating what changes in program, routine or setting would accommodate those needs. The plan will be reviewed by the Executive Director to determine if it would pose a hardship. Whenever possible, adaptations will be made, but if an undue hardship would be imposed to accommodate the special needs, the parents will be informed in writing within one week of the initial meeting. In such a case the parents/guardian may appeal the decision directly to the Massachusetts Office for Children for Licensed Programs, or the A.D.A. for other programs. Adults with special needs may bring care providers to attend to them in classes or exercise areas. Every attempt will be made to help the individual fit in. In situations where behavior disrupts the general atmosphere, a Program Director will speak with the care provider about behavior modifications or another choice of programming.
The special need locker room policy: The special needs locker room may only be used by individuals who, because of physical and mental impairment, cannot use other locker rooms. Aids may assist clients as needed in these locker rooms and use them for their own showering and changing period. Special needs to locker rooms are designated for men or women but because of a person’s aid may be of an opposite gender, a locker room may be co-ed.
Wheelchair Accessible: We have an elevator that makes all program areas wheelchair accessible. Individuals in wheelchairs can participate in the nautilus center, cardio center, Water Therapy class, Chair Fitness and Y-Family Activities. Parents and grandparents in wheelchairs can watch in basketball, gymnastics, swim lessons, Healthy kids and more. We have wheelchair accessible locker rooms aide can help you. Ask for the key at the front desk for the lift.

YMCA Ambassadors: Take a look around the Y to find our terrific YMCA Ambassadors, a select group of volunteers who are available to answer questions or direct you through the facility until you are familiar with the space. Ambassadors can also direct you to a staff member should the need arise, and are happy to share their YMCA experiences with you. You’ll recognize our Ambassadors by the special T-shirts they wear. Any long-term YMCA members interested in being a part of this program may contact Dawn Dorsey at 773-3646 ext. 428 for more information. We are grateful to all our Ambassador volunteers.
